it's that time again... well, i'm a little behind. but it's another Week in the Life project hosted and created by Ali Edwards. one of my all time favorite projects, next to scrapbooking, of course. lately, i have not been picking up my camera as much, but do try to use my camera phone. w/ this project, it allows me to really think about what we are doing regularly and documenting those moments captured through the lens. read more about the WITL here...
this time around, life is different.... Tyler is in middle school (6th grade), Corinne is a 2nd grader, i have a part-time job working at the local flower shop, a full-time metalsmith and still doing some scrapbooking dt work. the man, well, he's still going strong w/ Fuji and is in the midst of another home renovation project... the master bathroom (more on that later). oh, and our rescued greyhound, Nala has gained 10 lbs... WHOA! apparently, that is a lot for greyhounds. but hey, she's preparing for the cold season ahead.
anyway, when Monday arrived, i knew it was time for WITL, but quickly forgot. none the less, i managed to snap a few images each day. not as much as i would have liked though. i'm usually going strong the first half of the project. but the flower shop has been busy and i've been busy trying to complete orders and meet scrapbooking deadlines at the same time. w/ that said, i was able to spend a few hours to just relax at the computer - something i don't do as much anymore - and upload all my images, edit and share this post... i have days 1 - 3 and i averaged around 10 to 20 photos each day. super low for me. but really, it's great living in the moment! so here goes...
day 1...
early rise at 5am, hung out w/ Tyler and sent him off to school after 7am.
Corinne makes it downstairs and heads out a little late, but in time for the bus.
after a 30 minute workout and shower, i get dressed and spend most of my day at the flower shop.
printed packing slips for orders and grabbed a few snacks before heading out.
back home and into the garage i go to start working on a few custom orders and the main polishes up one of his hammer he made in back in grade school... so cool!
Tyler arrives home from school playing on his phone, totally not paying attention to Nala needing to come back inside and as usual, Corinne draws for a good hour before doing her homework.
Tyler at my desk, hiding from the camera, doing his homework, listening to webinar for his science class and i measured the kids... Ty grew 1/4" and Corinne grew 3/4".
after dinner... i passed out off and on, while watching Wheel of fortune and Jeopardy w/ the family. i was in bed by 830... so tired!!!
day 2...
today i was up at 415... couldn't go back to sleep. after waking kids up for school, i dressed and ate breakfast.
cleaned up the night before dishes (i usually don't do this, b/c i can't stand leaving dishes in the sink overnight, but i was extremely exhausted) and then cut out a hundred pillow boxes (packaging for my jewelry).
whipped up a green tropical smoothie before work and filled up my new favorite 32 oz. eco water bottle i bought from Tupperware.
dryer buzzed just before i walked out for work and snapped a quick selfie before heading in ;)
and just like that, no more photos. i ended up running errands for several hours and didn't really think about capturing the moment... arrived home, unloaded and spent the rest of the evening relaxing w/ the family before heading to bed early.
lastly, day 3...
early rise and began roasting my raw almonds (i can't eat almonds raw, have a slight reaction to them, so i roast them) and poured myself a cup of coffee (yes i am back to having ONE cup a day).
printed out mailing labels for orders and packed the kids lunch.
Corinne informing me how she will wear her hair on Halloween so it doesn't get in the way of her hoodie and punched out embossed labels for packaging.
the kids received Halloween cards from a cousin and one of their grandparents and i stayed up until midnight (this is RARE!!!) editing WITL photos and catching up on paperwork.
and that is it! see you with day 4 tomorrow... xoxo!

summer + arm accessory sneak...
a while back i shared a link on facebook, 1970's summer, which brought back a ton of childhood memories. i thought it would be fun for the kids to have a similar experience as we did growing up.
i love the concept and ideas and so far, we've accomplished a handful of them... i'm not sure if we could actually get number 4 done though. the amount of money it costs to see a movie is pretty hefty... really wish we had a drive-in theater though; that would be awesome! and believe it or not, i've allowed them to eat an awful lot of junk/candy. my gosh, the excitement on their faces when they ask if they can have more than one ice cream sandwich or eight cookies or a few packs of pez kids candy is so cute. not to mention they've quenched their thirst by drinking a full pitcher of pink lemonade in one day, insane!
i have not seen both of my babies since Saturday... Tyler's buddy Ace, slept over for two days and they couldn't bare to be apart, so Ty is hanging out w/ Ace and his family for two days. Corinne is also hangin' w/ her bestie for two days, celebrating her friends birthday. she even packed extra clothes just in case the opportunity came... hehe, love it! they come home today and i can not wait to see them and hear about all the fun they've had over the past few days.
and i've been spending ample time at my workbench creating some new arm accessories that i am really excited about. hope to have them listed in the shop over the next few days... by the end of the week for sure!
...enjoy your Monday!!

Gossamer Blue | September reveal...
hello there... i hope you're having a great weekend. so far so good here. we've been keeping busy... preparing for school to start on Tuesday, working on some home improvement projects and enjoying the company of our friends.
it's September 1st and that means Gossamer Blue kits are now on sale, YAY! this months kit is absolutely amazing, seriously! there is a LOT product to use and a set of Elle's Studio stamps in the main kit to boot. totally made me giddy!
my layout, All That Drool, uses everything from the main kit and digital die-cut files. i truly loved the black chalkboard accents throughout all the kits this month. to compliment the title treatment and embellishments, i used black stitching along the diagonal strips of blue tone patterns and layered with the bold red square background to frame my photos, journaling and title. love how it turned out.
thanks for stopping today. i'll be back tomorrow to share more GB layouts.... be sure to head over to Gossamer Blue to pick up your kit... xo!

what's going on...
and yet again, Monday arrives quicker than it needs to...
after a great weekend attending a family reunion in Va Beach, the kids and i had planned on spending our Monday in our jammies... (well, i'm in lounging clothes since i went to the gym this am...) doing whatever we want; being semi-productive around the house. i had no plans of sitting at my computer all day today. instead, i got a little carried away and decided to make a few changes to the blog, which takes forever! i added a new chevron background banner, some pointed sidebar buttons and enlarged some sidebar images, etc. the font used on the banner is marmellata jam. it's still a big transition coming from typepad to blogger. i'm happy w/ blogger, just need to learn how to navigate better.. the new changes still need some tweaking. thinking of adding a few simple brush elements to the white strip across the banner... we'll see. but so far so good. i like the overall look and feel much better... for now it will do.
it's the last month of summer and we are enjoying every last minute of it. keeping our days simple, productive and fun, w/ a few lazy days in between. the past seven days we've enjoyed the pool w/ friends, bowling, painting, admired the sky after a thunderstorm, baking treats, played outside, collected all the school supplies and soaked up sunshine at the beach...
good times... xo!!

LB | sketch challenge...
i didn't realize i signed up for Lily Bee's sketch challenge two months in a row, ha. but i'm not complaining. i've really enjoyed creating them to share. this current sketch is super simple, but also can be a little challenging when there wasn't a square or rectangle for photo placement nor journaling. but i really liked the idea of the design and just went w/ it. be sure to check out the blog post here and i love Ms. Patricia's interpretation...
hope you play along this month... xo

day in the life | July 31st...
happy Monday!
the July day in the life (by Ali Edwards) was set for Wednesday on the 31st. this day was a really fun day to document behind and in front of the camera b/c we weren't just hanging out at home doing or running errands around town, etc. we spent the majority of our day site seeing in D.C. and Corinne's bestie arrived later for a sleepover. it was a very busy day for us all. plus, i was super tired after spending the earliest part of the morning at the gym working out my legs... (never workout legs on the day you spend hours up hours walking in flat shoes w/out support. lesson learned...) and not only were my legs stiff from sitting in during the car drive, but the bottoms of my feet were achy, too. i could barely walk the next day, hahaha. getting old i tell ya!! i used my Canon 60D and Fuji x10 to take all my photos...
here's our day...
i'm a stickler when it comes to teeth brushing...
i ironed! i don't ever iron, i hate it, but my pants needed it...
construction on I-95...
if we weren't w/ friends i would have followed that truck...
this is a museum i want to tour very soon...
ferry ride on the Potomac...
Corinne photo bombing...
as soon as we arrived home, they ran to their rooms. Ty played on his ipod & computer...
Corinne played games on the tablet on the stairs... ha...
and i vegged on the computer for an hour...
our little friend Reid...
Corinne & Carter trying to hide from the camera while they play...
dinner...
Nala sits while she waits to be handed her treat...
a Netflix movie, water and their own bowls of tortilla chips, ha...
me going over the school supplies list and book to read to the girls at bedtime...
until next month, xo!
