i didn't realize i signed up for Lily Bee's sketch challenge two months in a row, ha. but i'm not complaining. i've really enjoyed creating them to share. this current sketch is super simple, but also can be a little challenging when there wasn't a square or rectangle for photo placement nor journaling. but i really liked the idea of the design and just went w/ it. be sure to check out the blog post here and i love Ms. Patricia's interpretation...
hope you play along this month... xo

Gossamer Blue | August '13
YEAH! it's another fabulous month for Gossamer Blue! i can't believe a year has already flown by... WOW! last year around this time, i created my first GB layout here. every month the kits have been non-stop fabulous. i was so thrilled receiving Lori's email asking me to join her kit club and extremely honored for the opportunity to continue.
happy ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY GOSSAMER BLUE!!!
ok so, the August kits were packed with a unique mix of bold colors and luscious embellishments. i created three layouts this month, two or which are 8.5x11. i really love the size and it comes in handy when i want to create something w/ less space. i also used circle elements in both of my designs.
my kayak layout was created using the main kit...LOVE! for the main water element design, i just used a wavy design cut out with the Cameo and machine stitched the edges... i love how the cardstock stands out w/ texture. the circle background paper inspired me to use a variety of circle elements to complete the page.
my son kayaked for the first time while on vacation last summer and he LOVES it. we both do and look forward to owning our own kayaks in the very near future.
for this page, my photos were washed out. i never did change the settings until after the fact when i snapped these photos. so, converting to b&w may them usable. the colors mixed in the Life Pages kits and the Bits & Pieces kit were so beautiful! i loved the rich colors of greys, blues, yellows and browns. i used a mix of elements from all the kits including printables.
my last layout uses a mix of goodies from all the kits & i just love love love the exclusive papers. i adore the pictures of my kids with their friend Ace, being silly i the back seat while on our way to pick up frozen yogurt. they cracked me up. i designed around the text background, which i created and cut out using the Cameo.
thanks for stopping by. hope these layouts inspire you into creating w/ this months Gossamer Blue's August kits, they are all scrumptious!!!! and check out the design teams scrapbook gallery & life pages gallery, their amazing!!!!!

American Crafts | Guest Designer...
hello hump day...
happy news, i am guest designer for American Crafts! i've been a big fan of theirs for years and had the pleasure of using goodies from the Dear Lizzy, My Girl, Yes, Please by Amy Tan, May Berry, Lakeside collections and more.
below i have five projects to share along with close ups...
I've always
wanted to create a layout using a variety of bubbles. Each word bubble
is filled with a word/phrase and were cut out using my Cameo die-cut
machine. Instead of using pop-dots for added depth, I cut another set of
plain word bubbles with cardstock and backed each one up with it for
thickness.
When I started this layout, I wasn't really sure how the design was going to come about. So, I decided to scraplift a previous layout I had created, this is something I love to do when the mojo is lacking creativity. I added pattern papers with different an array of shapes and kept with a tone-on-tone affect using a mix of elements to add flow and texture.
Inspiration came from the motif on the horse in the photo. I kept with a plain background and used large geometric shapes to be the main focal of my design. Each hexagon is layered with contrasting colors of pattern paper to continue to create flow from the photos. To fill in the space, I used the punched out tiny hexagons using chalkboard stickers. I love that they are self-adhesive and can create a simple embellishment with them.
This simple card has a lattice background, which adds a lot of texture to the overall design. I also used the leftover tiny circles from the die-cut circle pattern as well ass adding the striped pattern paper to bottom of card, which adds a bit of contrast. I love how the smooth texture of the fabric sticker looks against the solid pink paper and the lattice background.
The paper birdhouse was created using my Cameo die-cut machine. My daughter has been wanting a little birdhouse to display in her room and the May Berry and Lucky Charms pattern papers were perfect and to her liking. I layered the roof paper with cardstock for sturdiness and to make machine stitching easier. Quick and easy!
thanks for taking a peek... xo!

Elle's Studio | a collecton of layouts, close up...
good Monday morning...
as some of you know and may have already seen, Elle's Studio shared all the projects created w/ the Penelope collection, that were displayed at the summer CHA show in Vegas last week here. well, today i am sharing them with you, again, but along w/ the close ups....
i really enjoyed creating w/ the Penelope collection, an adorable girly collection w/ a unique collection of patterns and color pallete for sure...
i love how this page came together. i used arrows in different patterns and sizes, which are a fun and trendy geometric element. i added bits of tags, machine stitching and other elements for texture. i also have been enjoying the idea of using the same photo twice on a page, one b&w and one color.
it was about time for me to scrap those Warrior Dash pictures... for this layout, i used a black film strip that was cut using my Cameo, to balance out the black striped background above and embellished around the photos with a variety of tags and pattern papers.
this layout was simple and fun. i loved the idea of tucking a mix of tags above the large photo while creating a striking title against the white background.

thanks for stopping by, xo!!!

since i had already printed these sweet photos of my girl baking cookies, i randomly placed the inside the Polaroid style frames and anchored them atop the page with bits of tags and hearts, which slightly mimicked the adorable 4x6 "these are the facts:" tag.
