sweet memories | Two Peas :(

i  know, there has been many posts about the closing of Two Peas In a Bucket and yes, i am jumping in on the bandwagon...

it's sad news to hear one of the largest online scrapbooking communities has decided to close. i've been a member there since 2003 and it's heart wrenching to say the least. i have met some AMAZING friends, friends with a common interest in celebrating and creating memories through scrapbooking. not only was i just a member, but also a Garden Girl for 2.5 years. it was a turning point for me and i will always cherish that opportunity Kristina gave me during my scrappy years.

thanks to Two Peas for being that place where i could hang out with women (and a few men) who shared a common love as i. you will be missed!

here is my very first layout i shared shortly after joining...

and my first Garden Girl layout...

family life | rewarding...

it's been ages since i've updated my blog other than for scrapbooking... since last summer/fall, i really needed the break from it... it was just too much to do w/ so little time. to be quite honest, i've been super lazy about keeping it updated, unless i have scrapbooking projects to share. i found myself hanging out on instagram the most... i still hang out at facebook but not as much as i used too. i am finding that it's really, really difficult keeping up to date w/ my list of friends and family over there... so i just skim through it early in the morning and late at night, etc. i rarely have my computer on over the weekends as well; unless i have a deadline looming. when life isn't so hectic, i'm binding on netflix and i am in bed by 830 or 9, sad i know... getting old folks ;) anyway, i am going to put in a little more effort into keeping this ole blog updated more often. it'll be random though... some weeks i'll post a lot others not so much. totally unstructured, it has to be random or the pressure of feeling i HAVE to update it every day or specific days will be stress and annoy me (except when sharing projects, of course)... and i don't really have time for that, ha. so, wish me luck!

as you can see, i've changed the look of my blog a month or two ago. i really love the fresh, clean look and feel of the space now. it's less crowded and easy to find links, etc. there are still a few kinks i have to sort through, but for the most part, it's all done.

anyway, last night we attended Corinne's American Heritage Girls awards ceremony. she and all the girls in her troop received lots of awards and many leveled up. they all worked super hard and accomplished a lot when the troop began four months ago... looking forward to her starting back up in the fall. i just love the above photo so much... just wish i could remember what we were laughing about at that moment, haha!

as usual, thanks a bunch for stopping by here, i do appreciate it. happy hump day :) ...xoxo!

Gossamer Blue | origami game...

happy hump day! on the GB blog i am sharing a tutorial on how to make this origami game we all used to make when we were younger. i was inspired by a project my daughter brought home from school and she enjoyed the game so much, i had to make one using pattern paper. i remember i used to play this game ALL THE TIME! you can read more about it on the Gossamer Blue blog...

and while you're there, take a look at the July's lookbook, it's amazing!!! the exclusives are killer and it's filled with an abundance of the latest embellishments!!

GB | colorful circles...

this weeks layout share is another created for Gossamer Blue! June kits were filled with lots of bold colors and elements and of course, i took advantage of all the bits and pieces to create this page.

i used a mix of add-on and life pages add-on kits to complete this page design. Photos used are random, from my photo stash that were already printed. if printed photos in my stash have a purpose, i try to use them on a layout or project i have in mind. i don't like wasting printed photos.

adored all the circle embellishments and stickers this month. i've been wanting to do something like this for a while and finally was inspired. there was a great assortment of colors, which made this page that much easier to put together.

thanks for taking a peek, hope you have a lovely day... xo!

Gossamer Blue | she's so lovely...

hello again... i'm always amazed and pleasantly surprised when my GB page arrives. it's like Christmas or even birthday every monthly and i get so giddy when i go through everything and find an abundance of joy tucked into each bag... it's pure joy!

Junes main kit and digital cut files are fabulous and couples perfect with this months color palette. i opted to use the woodgrain pattern paper to showcase the images of my girl, smiling so pretty in the mirror-during one of our many shopping trips to Ikea.

the images were not so great. way too much yellow and a weird green color in the background of the images. so i toned down the color without losing character. looks so much better. plus, i'm a sucker for pops of color on a page... loved the teals, yellows and orange with the woodgrain background.

thanks for stopping by and i truly hope you've had a chance to pick up one of Junes amazing kits, if not more... you'll be creating for days, there's so much goodness :)

PageMaps + Maya Road | June sketch layout...

hey there, i've been trying to update this blog more regularly, but every time i turn around, life takes priority... and i'm totally fine w/ that. but i do miss sharing a piece of our daily happenings. i just need to find a happy balance to fit it all in. i need to work on that quick, b/c the kids will be on summer break in less that two weeks.

today's layout features an abundance of Maya Road embellishments using PageMaps June sketch.

the sketch i selected below had a lot of linear detail with some randomness tossed in, which i loved a lot. i pretty much kept to the design overall but decided to flip the sketch to create my page with textured details...

i used an embossing folder on the chipboard alphabets... a quick and simple way to add a bit of texture to an element or page.

the metal "hello" embellishment was part of a quote bubble that i removed with flush metal cutters.

have a lovely day... happy creating, xo!
